Halden Ishall holds 2,200 people now, nearly double what it did before a 2008 rebuild took it past its original 1,200 seats.

The club has spent more time fighting to stay afloat than fighting for titles. It pulled out of the second tier in 1997 when the economics stopped working, and it went bankrupt in October 2009 over money and arena troubles, only to be rebuilt a month later as Ishockeyklubben Comet Halden and sent back to work its way up from the 1. Divisjon. In the top division itself the furthest they ever got was a semi-final in 2007–08, lost to Frisk Asker. They were relegated from the EliteHockey Ligaen again after finishing bottom in 2024–25.

No name from the club's history carries more weight locally than Øyvind Andreassen. His number 9 is retired, and his 396 appearances remain the most anyone has played for Comet.

Against Sparta Sarpsborg the games still carry the weight of an Østfold derby, even if the label is more often used for Sparta's meetings with Stjernen.
