Manuel Wiederer went the same route through the academy.

The club itself has worn out more names than most. Two decades later the pattern repeated: the professional operation trading as Deggendorf Fire went bankrupt in 2002, and the DSC association picked the pieces back up. Under the Fire name the club kept producing results even in that same crisis year, taking the German Junior Championship in 2002 while the senior side was being rebuilt around it. The Fire name lasted until 2014, when the club dropped it and went back to being Deggendorfer SC.

Games against Eisbären Regensburg carry their own name, the Donau-Derby. The Oberliga South title has come three times now — 1979, 2018, and again in 2026, the 2018 win sending the team up into DEL2. Home games are played in front of 2,666 at most, yellow and black in the stands of an arena the sponsors call the Hitzkopf-Arena.
