What returned the following season was not a new club under a new badge but the old parent body, EV Regensburg, restarting from the fifth tier.

The organisation itself dates to 1962, when it was registered as Eissportverein Regensburg. Since the 2017 restart the climb has been steady rather than sudden: the Oberliga Süd title in 2020, promotion sealed with the Oberliga championship in 2022, and the DEL2 title in 2024.

Close to 4,900 fit into the Donau-Arena for Eisbären games, though only around 3,000 of those places are seated.

The youth set-up, Jung-Eisbären Regensburg, carries the German Ice Hockey Federation's five-star certification, and it keeps producing players who move on to the DEL.
