Drammen HK

Drammenshallen holds 4,200 for handball. The blue kit was picked to match the background of Drammen's own coat of arms.

Drammen HK came together on 3 March 1992, when the senior sides of Reistad IL, from neighbouring Lier, and IF Sturla, from Drammen itself, merged into one club and took over Reistad's place in the top division for the 1992–93 season. The new side went straight back down after that first campaign, then returned to the top flight in 1994 and stayed there long enough to win four league titles, in 1997, 2007, 2008 and 2010.

Kristian Kjelling's name runs through much of what followed: he played for the club either side of the millennium, left, and came back as head coach to lead Drammen to the Norwegian Championship in 2018. Off the court, the club came close to bankruptcy in recent years before working its way back to a surplus in 2023.

None of that history means much on derby night against Haslum HK. The two have measured themselves against each other for years in the Eliteserien.
