Maciej Jezierski spent long enough on the right wing at Gryfino to leave with 510 goals, which says more about the club than anything in its founding documents. The current club, PGE KPR Gryfino, only took its present shape in 2017, but handball in the town runs back to 1979, through Hermes Gryfino and then Energetyk Gryfino.

Jakub Blejsz belongs to that continuity in a different way. The hall itself seats 289; the two sides' meetings are known locally as the derby of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Promotion arrived in the 2020/21 season, when Gryfino won the II Liga Pomorska and moved up to the I Liga, the second tier of Polish handball, where the club has stayed since. Wojciech Dadej, who came through the club's own academy, was capped for Poland's under-18s.
