Michał Jurecki learned the game at Tęcza before Chrobry Głogów, Vive Kielce and a run of Olympic and world-championship medals ever came into view; his brother Bartosz, a line player who went on to earn 237 caps for Poland, came through the same hall.
The senior side traces to 1 January 1982, when Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy Tęcza was set up around Primary School No. 2 in Kościan.
No senior league title or cup has followed, and the team has spent its life moving between the second and third tiers. The 2020/21 season brought the closest thing to a landmark result: second place in the II Liga and promotion back to the I Liga. Home games are played in front of 465 people, a hall too small to hold much noise, which makes the visits from Real Astromal Leszno — Tęcza's own capital-D derby — and the Greater Poland meetings with MKS Poznań count for more than the standings around them usually suggest.
Staying in the I Liga, rather than sliding straight back down, is the task in front of the club now.
