Jamaica Empress Women

Cricket's Caribbean tournament had run with three teams for four seasons before Fawad Sarwar's FKS Group, already behind the men's Jamaica Kingsmen, put in for a fourth. Jamaica Empress Women took the field for the first time in 2026, the Women's Caribbean Premier League's first expansion since it began in 2022.

The debut, on 6 September 2026 against the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women, went to the final wicket before Jamaica got there, one wicket to spare. Chinelle Henry finished unbeaten on 41 and took the match award.

The squad Sarwar built for that first season reads like a shopping list of the women's game's biggest names — Meg Lanning, Stafanie Taylor, Syeda Aroob Shah — set alongside Jamaican players such as Rashada Williams and Djenaba Joseph.

Sabina Park, 20,000 seats in Kingston, is named as the team's home, though the whole of the 2026 season was played at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, several hundred miles from where the franchise is meant to belong.

Three years running, the title has gone to the Barbados Royals, now rebranded Barbados Tridents. Jamaica Empress arrives without a trophy, without a settled home ground, and without a rival anyone has bothered to name yet.
