Trinbago Knight Riders Women

Trinidad and Tobago's women play cricket under a name imported wholesale from India, based out of Tarouba while their home fixtures are staged at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, a ground that holds around 20,000. The franchise belongs to the Knight Riders Group, the joint venture between Red Chillies Entertainment and the Mehta Group that also runs Kolkata Knight Riders and the men's Trinbago side. The women's team followed in 2022, its formation announced that March and its first matches played that August.

It won the first thing it entered. Deandra Dottin captained the side to the inaugural Women's Caribbean Premier League title in 2022, beating Barbados Royals by ten runs in the final, then lost the 6IXTY final to the same opponents weeks later. A third-place finish followed in 2023, and in 2024 the Knights reached the Caribbean Premier League final again, only for Barbados Royals to beat them a second time.

The squad has grown around that early success. Anisa Mohammed serves as vice-captain alongside West Indies regulars such as Kyshona and Kycia Knight, and in 2024 the club signed former Australia captain Meg Lanning and brought in Jhulan Goswami as a mentor rather than a player, putting three decades of Indian cricket in the dressing room without adding her to the XI.

Barbados Royals have now beaten the Knights in two of the three finals between them, which is reason enough for Trinbago to treat that fixture as the one that matters most. Guyana Amazon Warriors supply the lighter rivalry, one both sets of supporters still describe as curry chicken against chicken curry rather than anything a trophy has settled.
