Konya BBSK's derby opponent is Konyaspor Basketbol, the basketball arm of the city's football club.

The professional side traces back through a tangle of earlier identities: a club once sponsored as Mutlu Aku Selçuk Üniversitesi, later rebranded Torku Konyaspor, competed in the Basketbol Süper Ligi before folding in 2016. The current team is a separate line, formed in 2019 out of Selçuklu Belediyespor and known briefly as Beysu Konyaspor before the municipality's name was restored. The parent sports club behind it dates to 1987.

Torku Konyaspor's years in the top flight are remembered chiefly through one import: Sean Williams, who topped the league in both scoring and blocked shots in 2014-15 before a doping suspension ended that run.

Konya BBSK lost the 2023-24 Turkish Basketball Second League final to Ayos Spor 70-56 but went up anyway, and in its first season back in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi it knocked out Fenerbahçe Koleji in the quarter-finals before Gaziantep Basketbol stopped it in the semis.
