Lovosice

Jiří Motl came up through the club's own academy — top scorer more than once, best player of the 2010/2011 season, 85 caps for the national side before he was done. He was not the only one the youth system sent upward; Petr Házl and Vladimír Šuma both went on to be named the league's best player in their own years, in 1995/1996 and 1994.

It did not start with those names. The section was founded in 1956 as a women's team, and two of its players, Lída Davidová and Marie Topičová-Martínková, were called into the Czechoslovak side that took bronze at the 1964 World Championship. The women's team folded in 1969. The men only got going afterward, playing on an outdoor gravel court from 1966 until Sportovní hala Chemik was built in 1982, and it took until 1977 for them to reach the first Czechoslovak league — three seasons up there, relegated each time.

The Czech Cup is where Lovosice has actually finished the job, winning it in 2012, 2017 and 2024. The playoff meetings with HCB Karviná carry their own weight now, sharpened by the 2022–2023 semifinal.
