Maiwand Champions

Sharafuddin Ashraf has captained Kunduz's franchise since its first season and, against Pamir Legends in the 2024 One Day Tournament, made 106 — his maiden List A hundred.

The Maiwand Champions took the field for the first time in the 2023 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, one of six new provincial teams the Afghanistan Cricket Board created that year to replace the old regional setup built around Amo, Band-e-Amir, Boost, Mis Ainak and Speen Ghar. They won the competition at the first attempt, beating the Hindukush Strikers by seven wickets in the final. Two years later they did it again, beating the Mah-e-Par Stars by nine wickets in a final played away from home, at the Ghazi Amanullah International Cricket Stadium in Nangarhar. Between those two titles came a final they lost, to Pamir Legends in 2024–25.

Four-day cricket is where the team has made its name; the white-ball record is more modest, with fourth-place finishes in both the regional one-day competition and the Wakhan National T20 Cup.

Home matches are played at the Kunduz Cricket Ground, which the board lists at just over 7,000 capacity, but enough to have seen the province's side become champions inside its first two years.
