Ivan Vuychenko and Yaroslav Ogrodnikov skated out for the first competitive game in Spartak MAX colours without a single senior appearance behind them anywhere in the system. The club exists to solve a queuing problem: Spartak's academy was producing more graduates than the main junior side, MHC Spartak, could fit into its lineup, so a second team was registered on 30 May 2025. It joined the Major Hockey League for the 2025/2026 season under that arrangement.

Games are played at LD "Legends of Hockey" in Sokolniki, a rink that holds 1,538. Albert Malgin took the team through its first MHL season as head coach; Dmitry Maximov replaced him for 2026/2027.

What Spartak MAX plays for, more than points, is the Moscow derby against Krylya Sovetov, and behind that the older enmity the Spartak system carries into any meeting with a CSKA junior side — a rivalry the new team inherited the moment it pulled on the red and white rather than one it had to build for itself.
