HC Molot Perm competes in the Supreme Hockey League and feeds players up to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl as its affiliate club.

The club's roots go back to 1948, when it started life as the team of the Motovilikha district. It took the Molot name in 1959, spent the late 1990s as Molot-Prikamye, and returned to the original name in 2021. The best of those years came in 2003–04, when the club won the Russian Supreme League title outright.

Home games are played at the Universal Sports Palace Molot, named after V. N. Lebedev, which holds 6,000 for hockey. Fans know the players as the Molotoboytsy — the Hammermen — and matches against HC Toros Neftekamsk are played as the Kama Derby.

Matvey Michkov trained there before Lokomotiv took him on, and decades earlier Igor Ulanov came through the senior side before building a long NHL career. Neither stayed in Perm, but both carry the club's name with them.

For now the task is straightforward: hold onto the regular-season form long enough to turn it into a run through the playoffs.
