Piotrkowianin have made a habit of finishing on the wrong side of the Superliga table without dropping out of it. Fifth place, reached twice in the mid-2000s, remains the high point in the top flight.

Promotion has been the recurring achievement instead: three I Liga titles, in 2003/04, 2011/12 and 2015/16, each one sending the club back up after a spell in the second division.

Its clearest mark on a cup competition came from reaching the Final Four twice, in 2008/09 and again in 2020/21, more than a decade apart, without either run ending in a trophy. Between those two appearances, the club's most durable connection to the national team ran through players who took their first senior caps while at Piotrkowianin — Piotr Jędraszczyk among them, before he left for Łomża Industria Kielce in 2023. Dmytro Zinczuk's 753 goals for the club, and his season as the league's second-highest scorer in 2006/07, sit at the other end of that story: a player who built his numbers there rather than moving through it.

The club has never had to share Piotrków Trybunalski with a genuine rival — there is no fixture against another local side that carries the weight of a derby — so its edges have been drawn instead against Łódź clubs such as Grot Anilana. A Superliga title has still eluded it in nearly three decades of trying.
