Regensburg Women

In the 2019/20 season the Bunkerladies finished second in the 3. Liga South, good enough for promotion, and turned it down. The club could not afford the step up, so it stayed put and waited another year, going up in 2021 instead.

ESV 1927 Regensburg's handball department dates to 1928, a year after the railwaymen's sports club itself was founded. They play at the Sporthalle ESV 27, known simply as the "Bunker", and the players became the Bunkerladies. It seats 500.

Promotion has rarely stayed long. The 2004 rise to the 2.

Amelie Bayerl was part of the squad that finally got Regensburg back to the second tier in 2021, four years after joining; by the time she left in 2023 the promotion she'd helped win was still the club's most recent one. The following season brought a run to the Round of 16 of the DHB-Pokal.
