Sasja

The 2007-08 season ended with Sasja holding the Belgian league title, the Belgian Cup and the first BeNe League crown in the same year. That treble sat on top of a run of success built over four decades, starting when the handball section split off on its own in 1958 under Sus Weyn and Stan Crab.

The league title had come to Hoboken before, in 1968 and in the mid-1970s, then again through a second wave in the 2000s. The Belgian Cup followed the same pattern: wins in the early 1970s and early 1980s, then one more in 2007 to round off the treble season. Between those peaks, Sasja kept testing itself in Europe, going as far as the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup in 2015-16.

No name from that era carries more weight than Joseph Delpire, who wore the Sasja shirt in two separate spells more than fifteen years apart, was still on the pitch for the 2005-06 championship, and went on to earn 185 caps for Belgium. Across town, Merksem HC has stayed the club's oldest rival, and the meetings between the two are still billed locally as the Antwerp derby.

Home games are played at Sporthal Sorghvliedt, a hall built for a crowd of a thousand.
