SBS Eger Eszterházy

In 2015, Eger won the Eastern group of the NB I/B and went up to Hungary's top division, the Nemzeti Bajnokság I. Two seasons later the promotion paid off with the Liga Kupa, taken in 2016/17. The stay at the top did not last: Eger dropped back out of the NB I at the end of 2018/19.

The club, formally Eger-Eszterházy Szabadidő és Sportegyesület, was founded in 2006 in Eger and has changed its sponsored name more than once, playing at various points as DVTK-Eger, SBS-Eger and now QHB-Eger. Home games are played in front of 885 seats at the Kemény Ferenc Sportcsarnok, in yellow and black.

József Padla scored for the club through 2012 and 2013 and later returned to coach it. Radoslav Antl carried the scoring load in the two seasons either side of the League Cup win.

No fixture in Eger's calendar carries more weight than the one against Gyöngyös. The two sides, both from Heves County, meet in what is known locally as the rangadó.
