PLER

Founding runs back to Elektromos SE in 1927, though the identity now answering to PLER only settled after 2003, when Pestszentlőrinc SC absorbed Elektromos SE and merged with Rév KC. When that partnership ended in 2013, the club reverted to standing on its own as PLER-Budapest.

The league titles belong almost entirely to the Elektromos years: 1969, 1970 and 1971 in succession. The cup record follows a similar pattern, four wins spread between 1976 and 1997, none since.

Matches against Ferencvárosi TC are still called the Pesti derbi, a name that has outlasted the four years the two clubs spent as a single entity. The rivalry sits oddly with the size of PLER's own ground: the Budapest Airport Aréna on Thököly út holds 1,000, a fraction of what a club with three league titles from a single decade might expect to have kept building toward.

European runs have gone as far as the round of 16, in the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 2008–09 and 2011–12 and in the EHF Cup in 2006–07, and no further. Since 1997, the trophy cabinet has not added anything to put beside those dates.
