Promotion to Nemzeti Bajnokság I came in the 2024/2025 season, when Szigetszentmiklósi KSK won the NB I/B championship and reached the top flight for the first time. The Hungarian Cup has never been part of that record.

The club traces back to 1992, formed to carry on the men's and women's handball sections of Csepel Autógyár after that club's programme was shut down in 1990. A first promotion came in the 2010/2011 season, when the team topped the NB II Western Group, built largely around players who had come up through the club's own youth ranks rather than signings brought in from outside.

Home games are played at the SZKSK Kézilabda Csarnok, a hall that holds 420 people, in Szigetszentmiklós south of Budapest.

Imre Vilmos took over as head coach with a résumé that includes spells at Dunaferr, Csurgó and Balatonfüred, as well as a stint in charge of the Hungarian women's national team. The squad that carried the club into NB I/B and beyond mixed homegrown players with imports such as German line player Ron Dieffenbacher, signed from Füchse Berlin, and Dutch left back Destin van Dijk, who arrived from Bevo HC.

In Pest county, the fixture against Budai Farkasok-Rév is the one that matters most. Regionally, Gyáli BKSE, Mogyoródi KSK and Ceglédi Kék Cápák provide the more regular competition. Now in the top flight, Szigetszentmiklósi KSK faces a different class of opponent altogether: Ferencvárosi TC, Veszprém KC, Pick Szeged and Tatabánya KC.
