Komloi

Komló is a mining town in Baranya county, and its handball side kept the trade in its name: Bányász means miner, and the colours are blue and white. The handball section was set up in 1952, and has spent most of its life moving between the Nemzeti Bajnokság I (NB I), the top flight, and the second tier, the NB I/B.

The second-tier title came three times, in 1957, 1971 and 1990. The first and last brought promotion. The one in 1971 did not: the Hungarian Handball Federation refused to let Komló up, so a championship-winning side stayed where it was. The best result in the top flight came in 1993–94, when the team finished fourth. The best cup run ended in 2006 with third place in the Magyar Kupa.

Gábor Hajdu, a Hungarian international, joined in 2007. The squad has regularly included foreign players, among them Ante Granić from Croatia, Srećko Jerković from Serbia and Darko Pejović from Montenegro.

The local rival is Pécsi VSK, from Pécs, the county's largest city. The sponsor's name has changed with the years: Sport36-Komló from 2014 to 2023, Carbonex-Komló since.

Home games are played at the Komló Városi Sportközpont, a hall with 800 seats.
