Sondermarkens Women

Mathilde Trend and Sara Kececi both learned the game at Søndermarkens Idræts Klub before their careers took them elsewhere. The women's side has just gone the other way for once, earning its first promotion to the 1. Division after years without one.

The club that houses them started as something far broader: a group meeting in a classroom at Søndre Skole in November 1938, football following the next spring.

Home games are played at Liseborg Hallen, part of the Liseborgcentret complex, in blue and white, with red kept as an alternative for away matches.

Handball is not the only sport SIK has exported. Kevin Mensah went through the club's youth football ranks before going on to captain Brøndby IF. For the women's handball team, the task now is simpler: hold its place in the 1. Division and see what the step up demands of a squad still adjusting to it.
