The Charlotte Edwards Cup had slipped away from The Blaze twice before they finally lifted it in 2024, alongside a second defeat in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. The T20 Blast League 1 followed in 2025.

The team did not grow out of Nottingham. It began in 2020 as one of the regional sides the England and Wales Cricket Board created to restructure women's domestic cricket, drawing players from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire and based, at first, at Loughborough University in place of the old Loughborough Lightning. The hub moved to Trent Bridge in 2022, and the side took the name The Blaze for the following season, its red and yellow taken straight from Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club's own colours.
