Kakkosen Cup was a pre-season football tournament in Finland designed specifically for clubs competing in the Kakkonen, the third tier of the national league system. Organised by the Football Association of Finland (Suomen Palloliitto), the competition served as a direct qualifier for the group stage of the main Finnish Cup (Suomen Cup). The event was founded in 2020, with the inaugural season taking place in January of that year. It ran annually until 2021, after which the separate tournament was discontinued in favour of integrating lower-division teams directly into the Suomen Cup qualification structure.
The format typically involved a group stage divided into geographical regions, followed by knockout rounds to determine the winner. This structure allowed teams to secure a place in the national cup competition during the winter months. In 2020, JIPPO won the final against KaaPo. The following year, PEPO defeated SJK Akatemia 3–2 in the decisive match. Participation included established Kakkonen clubs such as FC Jazz, JäPS, and TPV, alongside reserve sides like SJK Akatemia. The tournament differed from the broader Suomen Cup by being a lower-tier specific qualifier held in the pre-season.
The competition was held for only two seasons. After the 2021 edition, the Football Association of Finland ended the standalone event. From 2022 onwards, Kakkonen teams qualified for the Suomen Cup directly through the national cup’s own qualification system. This change rendered the separate Kakkosen Cup obsolete, meaning there are no winners recorded for the 2022, 2023, or 2024 seasons. The tournament did not experience long-term reforms or sponsor name changes beyond its initial establishment and subsequent abolition.
