The Polish Super Cup (Superpuchar Polski) is played as a single match before the start of each campaign. It is organized by the Polish Football Association (PZPN) and contested between the reigning Ekstraklasa champion and the winner of the domestic cup competition. If the league title holder has also secured the cup victory, the runners-up in that tournament take their place on the pitch.
The fixture is typically hosted at a neutral venue within Poland. A distinctive feature of the format is the absence of extra time in the event of a draw after ninety minutes; the match proceeds directly to a penalty shootout. This rule applies regardless of the stage or importance of the contest.
Lech Poznań is the most successful club with seven titles, followed by Legia Warsaw with six. The current holder is Lech Poznań, who won the 2026 edition by defeating Górnik Zabrze 3–1. The competition has a history of irregularity, with several editions cancelled due to organizational issues, safety concerns, or structural reforms in Polish football.
The Super Cup is considered a minor trophy compared to the Ekstraklasa and the Polish Cup, which are the two primary domestic honors. It does not confer European qualification spots, which are determined solely by league position and cup performance. The competition differs from the Polish Cup, which is an open knockout tournament involving hundreds of clubs from all levels of the pyramid, and the Ekstraklasa, which is the top-flight league.
Between 2006 and 2009, it was known as the Superpuchar Ekstraklasy SA. As of 2025, the title sponsor is the betting company STS, making the official name STS Superpuchar Polski. Historically, the Gloria Victis Foundation held honorary patronage from 1987 to 2000. The match serves as a curtain-raiser for the new season, bringing together the top contenders in Polish football for a brief but decisive encounter.
