Mikael Ishak

In Poznań, his finishing has made him one of the most productive foreign players in the history of the Polish league, and by 2026 he had reached 90 league goals, the third-highest tally by a foreigner in Ekstraklasa history.

Born in Södertälje to a family of Syrian origin, Ishak came through the youth ranks at Assyriska FF, where he also made his senior debut. A move to 1. FC Köln in December 2011 took him to Germany, though the following years scattered him across leagues rather than settling him: a loan at St. Gallen in Switzerland, a transfer to Parma in Italy immediately followed by a loan to Crotone in Serie B, where he scored four goals in 24 appearances. Spells at Randers in Denmark and Nürnberg in Germany followed before he arrived in Poland.

He joined Lech Poznań as a free agent in 2020. He has been part of three championship-winning squads there, in the 2021/22, 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons, and added a Polish Super Cup in 2026. Within the club's own history, only Teodor Anioła, with 141 goals, has scored more for Lech than Ishak has.

At international level, Ishak represented Sweden rather than Syria, and won the European Championship with the country's under-21 side in 2015. His senior caps have been fewer: seven appearances, with a single goal against Estonia in a friendly in January 2016. His most recent appearance for Sweden came against Mexico in November 2022.
