BATE II and Gomel II Share Points in Tight First League Encounter
BATE II and Gomel II played out a 2:2 draw in the First League's regular season round 22 on Friday. The result keeps both sides in the bottom half of the table, with Gomel II sitting one place and three points above their hosts after twenty-two matches.
Mardas was the standout performer, netting twice for BATE II in the opening half. He opened the scoring in the thirty-first minute before adding a second just four minutes later. Gagloev pulled one back for the visitors in the forty-third minute, and his side levelled the match through Sargsyan's goal in the eighty-first minute.
Discipline was relatively clean throughout. BATE II came through without a booking, while Gomel II picked up two yellow cards, with Bondarchuk receiving his in the forty-fifth minute and an unnamed player cautioned in the seventy-eighth minute.
Both teams have struggled for consistency this season. BATE II's recent run includes three defeats in their last five league outings, while Gomel II have won only one of their past five matches, including heavy losses against Uni Minsk and Molodechno-DYUSSH 4.
The draw leaves BATE II on eighteen points in seventeenth place and Gomel II on twenty-one points in sixteenth. Neither side has much breathing room at this stage of the campaign, and every point matters going forward.
