Bukhoro Edge Past Lokomotiv in Superliga Thriller
Bukhoro secured a 2-1 victory over Lokomotiv in the Superliga's Regular Season round 15 on Friday evening. The hosts took an early lead through S. Shodiboev's 17th-minute strike, capitalising on A. Susnjar's own goal just before it. Lokomotiv fought back to equalise via T. Mamasidikov's 43rd-minute effort, but Bukhoro held firm after A. Kozlov's red card in the 36th minute reshaped the contest.
By then the match had turned on its head, and here's the thing — losing a man so early forced Lokomotiv to dig in rather than press. Susnjar's own effort at the 16-minute mark caught everyone off guard, and Shodiboev was quick to finish what the defender had started. The visitors dominated possession at 55 per cent but their 11 shots off target told the real story of a side unable to convert.
Mamasidikov's goal brought Lokomotiv back into contention, and to be fair the visitors created more chances overall with 91 attacks compared to Bukhoro's 73. But Bukhoro's seven shots on target proved decisive against five for the visitors. The red card changed everything — once Kozlov was sent off, the game opened up and Bukhoro were closing in on victory.
Substitutions came thick and fast after the break, with Poyonov replacing Kozlov almost immediately at the 37th minute. Mirzaev, Ubaydullaev, Abraev, Ruziev and Yuldoshev all made appearances as both managers tried to shift momentum. Susnjar picked up a yellow card in the 65th minute while Baratov went off with a booking on the stroke of full-time.
The result keeps both sides within touching distance at the top of the table. Lokomotiv remain fourth on 35 points from 21 games, one ahead of fifth-placed Bukhoro who now sit on 34 points. Both sides share identical win records of ten victories, though Lokomotiv's five draws versus Bukhoro's four make the difference.
Recent form makes this result all the more interesting. Bukhoro had lost 2-0 to Andijan on their last outing before bouncing back with wins against Bunyodkor and Mashal. Lokomotiv came into this fixture with a 3-1 victory over Sogdiana but had also drawn 3-3 with Andijan in their previous game.
What stands out is how Bukhoro managed their game after the reduction to ten men. They let the game flow when needed but held their shape when Lokomotiv pushed forward. The statistics show possession may have favoured the visitors, but the final score tells you who controlled the decisive moments.
