Cham defeated Zürich II 4-0 in the Regular Season round six of the 1. Liga Promo on Saturday. The hosts moved into a comfortable position at the top of the table, extending their lead over the visitors who remain in eighth place.
And here's the thing, the result was never in doubt from the first whistle. The home side controlled the tempo throughout, punishing Zürich II whenever the visitors tried to step forward. By then it was clear this was going to be a one-sided affair.
We had predicted a home win with 48 per cent confidence before kick-off. The prediction came good, though the margin of victory was perhaps more comfortable than expected. The old head in the Cham squad settled things down when the visitors threatened to create something.
Cham now sit second on 13 points from six games, with four wins, one draw and one defeat. Zürich II remain eighth on 10 points after three victories, one draw and two losses. The gap between them has now widened to three points.
The hosts have been tough to beat at home this season, having won four of their six matches. The visitors will need to tighten things up quickly if they want to climb away from the bottom half of the table.
