Eibar secured a narrow 1-0 away victory over Andorra in the third round of the Segunda División at the Estadi de la PF on Sunday. The visitors took the lead just after the interval and held on despite playing with ten men for the final forty minutes. Both sides enter the new campaign with one win and one defeat from their opening two fixtures, each sitting on three points.
The decisive moment arrived in the forty-seventh minute when Álvaro Garrido found the net. Andorra had dominated possession but failed to create anything meaningful before that point. The hosts summed up their frustration in the ninety-second minute when a goal by Efe Akman was cancelled out by VAR for offside. There was no second chance.
Eibar's luck ran out in the fifty-sixth minute when captain Jon Magunazelaia Argoitia was shown a red card. The wheels came off for the visitors after that, but they managed to close the game out with discipline. Andorra threw bodies in the way but could not find an equaliser against a side that had already made the difference.

Eibar managed just 22 per cent possession and one shot on target with 0.53 expected goals. Many shots with one goal means chances went begging, and the visitors made the most of what they had.
The result leaves Andorra in eleventh place and Eibar in seventeenth, both on three points from two games. The table goes out of the window in these games, but the gap between them remains narrow. Eibar showed they can take points away from home, while Andorra will need to be more clinical if they want to climb.
