Julius scored two goals in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory for his side over Tigrres UANL at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez. The result came in the ninth round of the Apertura tournament, with both teams sitting near the bottom of the table. Juárez moved off the foot of the standings, while Tigrres held on to 16th place.
The opening goal arrived in the 66th minute when Oscar Estupiñan converted a penalty. By then, the match had been a study in contrasts — Tigrres controlled possession but struggled to find a way through. Juárez's defence worked hard, making 48 clearances and blocking six shots. And here's the thing: they only needed two moments to change the game.
Estupiñan added a second in the 79th minute, putting the tie beyond doubt. Tigrres continued to press, creating four big chances compared to Juárez's three, but their shots lacked precision. They registered five shots on target against five for their hosts, yet only managed to find the net twice — and those were for the wrong side.
The statistics tell a familiar story. Tigrres had 57 per cent possession and 117 attacks, while Juárez managed 43 per cent and 82. Expected goals favoured Juárez at 1.84 to 1.67, but the difference was in efficiency. Both sides made several changes in the second half. Juárez brought on Javier Aquino, Diego Sánchez and Ricardo Monreal, while Tigrres introduced Joaquim Pereira and Mauro Laínez. Denzell Garcia received a yellow card in the 45th minute, and Guillermo Martinez was booked after full-time.
The result ends a run of poor form for Juárez, who had lost five consecutive matches before this. They came from behind on several occasions this season but failed to hold leads. To be fair, this performance showed more structure than recent outings. Tigrres, meanwhile, remain winless in three league games.
