TPV claimed a slender 1-0 win over Inter Turku II in the Ykkönen Group Stage on Friday. The away side took all three points thanks to a single goal, finishing with a narrow advantage over their hosts. Both teams remain close in the standings, with TPV holding ninth place on 24 points while Inter Turku II sit tenth on 20 points after 22 matches each.
Kylen broke the deadlock in the twentieth minute, and that proved to be enough. To be fair, the rest of the half offered little in the way of clear chances for either side. The hosts had nothing to lose and went for the jugular after the break, but TPV found no answer needed to hold on.
The game turned increasingly physical as the minutes wore on. Two yellow cards arrived together in the sixty-fourth minute for Kujala and Rashica, and the tension seemed to mount from there. By then, the match had settled into a pattern of interruptions rather than flowing football.
Substitutions came thick and fast in the second half. TPV brought on Bullock in the sixty-sixth minute, followed by Aalto and Otoo just before the hour-and-a-half mark. Inter Turku II responded with their own changes, bringing on Akbal and Kujala in the seventy-sixth minute, then Huovila shortly after.
Discipline became the defining feature of the closing stages. Pitkakoski collected his second yellow in the eighty-seventh minute before being sent off four minutes into stoppage time. Kopperoinen and Ozcelik also picked up yellows as the match descended into chaos at the final whistle.
The result leaves both sides within a point of each other in the group. TPV's away victory extends their recent form, having drawn with Tampere United on their last outing. Inter Turku II's defeat follows a mixed run of results, including a loss to PKKU and a win against KuPS Academy.
