Kalmar and Häcken met at Guldhagens Arena on Sunday in the twenty-second round of the Allsvenskan, and the visitors left with all three points in the most emphatic fashion. The final score read 0:5, a result that extended Kalmar's recent struggles while pushing Häcken further clear of trouble in the middle of the table.
And here's the thing about this game — it was decided before the half-hour mark. Gustav Lindgren opened the scoring in the third minute, then struck again in the thirty-fifth and the forty-eighth, completing a hat-trick that left the home side searching for an explanation. By then Kalmar had already seen Olle Samuelsson booked in the fifteenth, and the substitution of Noah Shamoun on the stroke of half-time did little to shift the momentum.
The second half brought a double change for Kalmar in the fifty-second minute, bringing on Melker Hallberg and Tobias Lauritsen, but Häcken's Adrian Svanback added a fifth goal in the fifty-sixth before Julius Lindberg made it six in the sixty-fourth. Häcken's manager then began clearing the bench, removing Lindgren and Lindberg in quick succession in the sixty-fifth and seventy-second minutes respectively, while Kalmar's Olle Samuelsson finally departed the pitch in the seventy-second.

The home side had other concerns. Kalmar had now lost three consecutive league matches — 0:1 defeats at the hands of Elfsborg, Djurgården and Halmstad — before a 0:0 draw with Värnamo and a 7:0 thrashing of Enköping. Häcken's recent run looked more resilient: a 1:1 draw with Mjällby AIF, a goalless stalemate against GAIS, a 1:3 loss to Värnamo, then back-to-back victories over Utsikten and Sirius.
