Magallanes CF 3:2 Unión Española: Primera B Match Result

Match report

Magallanes edged Unión Española 3-2 in a Primera B Regular Season clash on Sunday, a result that shifts momentum in the middle of the table. The hosts took an early lead through U. Ojeda before the visitors responded with precision of their own.

F. Yanez levelled for Unión Española in the thirty-third minute, but Magallanes struck just before the interval. H. Salinas Flores headed home on forty-five-plus-one minutes, and when the visitors equalised through Yanez in the fifty-first, the game opened up. That was the pivot — from then on, Magallanes looked the side more likely to find a winner.

Salinas provided the decisive moment in the eighty-first, completing his brace and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Unión Española pushed for an equaliser but could not find the net, while Magallanes kept their side in it through disciplined defending when the visitors dominated possession.

The statistics tell a familiar story: Unión Española had more of the ball at fifty-four per cent and launched 138 attacks compared with Magallanes' 112, yet five shots on target for the hosts proved more decisive than three for the visitors. Magallanes won nine corners to seven, but it was clinical finishing that mattered, not volume.

Moving to twenty-four points after eighteen rounds, Magallanes sit sixth, one point above Unión Española in seventh. The visitors had lost two of their last three league matches before this defeat, while the hosts ended a run of back-to-back losses with this victory.
