Moss and Sogndal played out a 2:2 draw at Melø Stadion on Wednesday evening in the first division, regular season round 19. Each side took the lead before the interval, only for the visitors to respond almost immediately after the break. The hosts then held firm despite being out-attacked throughout, and things came to a head when E. Hovland found the net late on.
W. Kvale opened the scoring for Moss in the twenty-second minute, catching the defence off guard. The home side doubled their advantage just before the hour mark when O. Helen struck, though J. Haruna had already been shown a yellow card for a cynical challenge. Sogndal refused to go away, and N. Semmen levelled within two minutes of the restart — by then the momentum had shifted.
Both managers made changes around the hour mark, with E. L. Hillestad, J. Haruna and R. Onyango replaced by L. Overgaard, N. Semmen and the returning Haruna for the hosts. Sogndal pushed forward, but their chances went begging despite dominating possession. The visitors saw the game out through grit rather than fluency, and Hovland's late effort paid for a sloppy opening period.
Statistically, the match told a familiar story. Sogndal registered 96 attacks against 73 for Moss, and held 55 per cent possession, yet shot less accurately — three efforts on target compared to seven for the home side. Corners were 9:7 in favour of the visitors, who also won more goal kicks. The figures suggest they created more opportunities but failed to convert them.
Both sides sit in the lower half of the table, Moss in fourteenth place with 20 points from 20 games and Sogndal twelfth with 22. The draw extends neither side's recent form — Moss have won one of their last five while Sogndal won two. It was a result that kept things balanced, if not particularly convincing for either manager.
