The visitors took the lead in the 85th minute and added a second in stoppage time to extend their unbeaten run to four matches. Riestra had been on a good run themselves, winning three on the bounce before this evening's setback.
The match settled into a rhythm where both sides traded possession without opening much space. Riestra pressed higher in the second half, earning five corners to Oriental's six, but the away side sat deep and soaked it up. Then came the break: a well-worked move finished in the 85th minute, and by then the home side had switched off at the back. The second goal in the 90th minute-plus-two was more a case of Oriental came for a cross they never reached, but the result was already sealed.
The statistics tell a story of efficiency rather than dominance. Oriental held 56 per cent possession and registered five shots on target, converting two. Riestra had slightly more attacks — 85 to 81 — and also hit the target five times, but their nine shots off target showed they were searching for answers. Both sides kept clean sheets, though Oriental picked up five yellows compared to none for the hosts.
Oriental now sit top of the table with 13 points from six games, two ahead of their nearest challengers. Riestra remain in seventh with nine points, their three-match winning streak brought to an end. The gap between first and seventh is still manageable, but this result hands Oriental some momentum heading into the next round.
