Sogdiana defeated Surkhon 1:3 in the Superleague's Regular Season round 17 on Thursday. The visitors came from behind after their hosts took the lead in the first half. Surkhon sat twelfth in the table with 20 points after 20 games, while Sogdiana occupied tenth place with 27 points.
F. Kodirov gave Surkhon the advantage at the 21st minute, putting their side ahead. Sogdiana responded with a double strike from S. Mavlonkulov, who scored at 49 and 50 minutes to level the match. O. Karimov then added two goals at 59 and 60 minutes, putting the visitors firmly in control.
Surkhon dominated possession at 61 per cent but struggled to convert their territorial advantage. They registered 134 attacks and 16 shots, though only six found the target. Sogdiana were more clinical, hitting seven shots on target from 111 attacks with just 39 per cent of the ball.
Multiple substitutions marked the second half as both managers sought to change the momentum. Surkhon made three changes at 64 minutes, bringing on T. Dzebniauri, D. Ramazonov and S. Abdukhamidov. Sogdiana responded with three substitutions of their own at the same time, while further changes followed for both sides in the closing stages.
The result leaves Surkhon still in the lower half of the table, while Sogdiana maintain their position above their opponents. Both teams showed vulnerability in defence, with Sogdiana conceding once but capitalising on their chances to secure all three points away from home.
