Jonava came from behind to beat Transinvest 2 2-1 in the 1 Līga regular season on Friday evening. The visitors took all three points despite going behind early, capitalising on a dismissal that shifted the balance completely. Transinvest 2 had started brightly, but Jonava survived the storm and punished the numerical disadvantage.
It was G. Onuskevicius who opened the scoring in the eighth minute, a well-taken goal that gave the home side confidence. They looked comfortable for long stretches, controlling possession and probing for a second. To be fair, the result could have been different had the visitors been more clinical earlier.
The match turned in a matter of minutes around forty-first. K. Sutovicius picked up a red card, leaving Transinvest 2 with ten men. And here's the thing — Jonava did not waste time. A. Raginis equalised in the forty-second minute, immediately after the referee had sent off the home player.
The momentum had shifted decisively. Raginius added a second five minutes later, putting the visitors ahead and effectively ending the contest. Transinvest 2 tried to respond but lacked the numbers to create real chances. By then, the result was clear.
The win moves Jonava up to tenth place with 26 points from 22 games, while Transinvest 2 remain thirteenth on 18 points. The gap between them now stands at eight points, a meaningful margin in this part of the table. Neither side has much room for error with the season winding down.
Recent form tells its own story. Transinvest 2 have lost four of their last five matches, with only a 2-0 victory over Atmosfera breaking the pattern. Jonava are more inconsistent but have found wins against B1 NFA and Garliava to keep them competitive.
