To be fair, Tukums II had been finding things difficult of late. They arrived having lost five of their last six matches, including heavy defeats against Marupe and Riga Mariners. The 3:1 scoreline at least offered something to build on after that run.
Rēzekne's position looked even starker on paper. Sitting 14th with just one win from 21 games and six points, they were well adrift of safety. Their recent form offered little comfort — two draws and three losses in their last five outings.
And here's the thing about this result. It widened the gap between the two sides from nine points to twelve. Tukums II now sit on 18 points after 21 games, while Rēzekne remain stuck on six with one match more played.

The result doesn't change anyone's immediate prospects, but it does give Tukums II something to hold onto. Rēzekne now need to find a way to stop picking up points against teams they should be beating.
