Canuelos took all three points at home to Yupanqui on Sunday, closing out a 2-1 victory in the Primera C Regular Season. The result leaves Canuelos sitting second in the table with 48 points after 27 games, while Yupanqui remain tenth on 33.
A. Melono opened the scoring early, striking in the fourth minute to put the hosts ahead. It was a quick start that set the tone, though Yupanqui had little to show for their early dominance. They controlled possession at 46 per cent and registered 76 attacks, but the statistics tell a limited story when chances are scarce.
A. Quagliano levelled things up in the 41st minute, finding the net to bring Canuelos back into the contest. From then on the game settled into a rhythm that neither side could quite break. Yupanqui pressed for a winner but their single shot on target failed to trouble the keeper again.
L. Maside's red card in the 83rd minute shifted the balance toward the visitors. Canuelos seized the moment with a penalty in the 87th minute, T. Ybarra converting from the spot to seal the result. The dismissal came late, but its impact was immediate.
Canuelos now extend their unbeaten run and close the gap on the leaders. Yupanqui's run of draws and narrow defeats continues to frustrate.
