Enzo Maresca brings music sessions to Manchester City

The Italian coach has players choose the playlist for training, a habit from Leicester and Chelsea, ahead of City's Champions League opener against Porto.

A coach in black Chelsea training kit stands by the technical area on a football pitch. The club crest and Bingx sponsor are visible on his shirt. Spectators fill the stadium stands behind him.

Enzo Maresca has told players at Manchester City to pick the music for training sessions, a method he first used at Leicester and Chelsea.

ESPN was present at an open session ahead of City's Champions League league-phase opener against Porto, where players worked out to dance music played over the club's speakers.

Maresca took over at City this summer after ten years of Pep Guardiola, who finished second in the Premier League last season and is currently taking a break from coaching. By all accounts, the Italian sees the change as a way to put his own stamp on the squad rather than operate in his predecessor's shadow.

City face Porto on 8 September.

The fixture is one of several kicking off the newly expanded 36-team Champions League league phase, alongside Real Madrid's home meeting with Inter and Dortmund against Villarreal.
