Guerrero brace gives Fabril first win over Ponferradina
Adrián Guerrero scored twice, including a penalty, as Deportivo Fabril came from behind to beat Ponferradina 2-1 in Primera Federación.
Ponferradina went ahead in the 35th minute through Arturo Molina, who turned in a low cross from Calderón that Tounkara let run through his legs without touching it. It was the visitors' best spell of the game, and they went close to a second before half-time.
Fabril improved after the break. A mishit clearance by goalkeeper Álex Domínguez led to a spell of pressure on the Ponferradina goal, and after several blocked shots the referee, Rius Riu, pointed to the spot for a handball by San Emeterio. Guerrero converted the penalty in the 61st minute after a five-minute review, then struck again in the 74th, finishing a move started by Kevin, to complete his brace and turn the scoreline around.
Guerrero's afternoon had begun differently: in only the second minute he was clean through on goal but saw his effort saved by Domínguez. Ponferradina also had a goal by Unai Sabroso ruled out. Rubén López and Fraga were booked for the home side, San Emeterio and Calderón for the visitors, in front of 1,387 spectators.
Manuel Pablo's young Fabril side, still finding its feet in the category, had to rely again on the returning loan players — Rubén López, Guerrero, Kevin Sánchez and Martín Ochoa among them — for their breakthrough result.
The win may buy Manuel Pablo's group some breathing room while it settles into the division, while Ponferradina, under Nafti, will want to put right a display in which their control of the game was not matched by the result.
