De Bruyne, Lukaku, Tielemans in Belgium's Van Bommel squad

Van Bommel names his first Belgium squad for Nations League games against Italy, France and Turkiye, calling up De Bruyne, Lukaku and Tielemans.

The Red Devils sit in Group A alongside all three sides and make their bow under Van Bommel away to Italy on September 25, before hosting France three days later. Belgium then take on Turkiye on October 2 and travel to France on October 5, closing out the group away in Turkiye on November 12 and at home to Italy on November 15.

Kevin De Bruyne, Youri Tielemans, Senne Lammens and Mika Godts are among those included, along with Zeno Debast and Dodi Lukebakio.

Van Bommel's own Serie A past runs through this squad list. He wore the Milan shirt in the 2011-12 season and has now picked Milan's Koni De Winter and Diego Moreira, Napoli's De Bruyne, Parma's Mandela Keita, Atalanta's Charles De Ketelaere and Bologna's new signing Arthur Theate. Romelu Lukaku and Lois Openda also feature, both having left Serie A only in recent weeks, for Fenerbahce and Lyon respectively.

His inclusion, and that of Diego Moreira after his own move to Milan, means Van Bommel's opening squad carries several players still settling into new clubs — a factor that may show in how quickly he can build cohesion before facing Italy on September 25.
