CSKA's Azzi Hurt in Friendly Against Nizhny Novgorod

Mohamed Azzi went down clutching his thigh 10 minutes into CSKA Moscow's friendly against Nizhny Novgorod, and did not come back out for the second half against him.

The right-back made a run for the ball, pulled up and asked to come off. Semyon Nikolayev replaced him. CSKA were already 0:2 down at the Oktober Stadium in Moscow; the match finished 2:0 to Nizhny Novgorod.

The club later gave a diagnosis and a timeline. "Mohamed Azzi has sustained a bruise to the muscles of the front of the thigh. The expected recovery time is no more than 5-7 days. Get well soon, Azzi," CSKA said in a statement.

Azzi, 24, joined CSKA from Dinamo Makhachkala in September on a long-term contract. Across the two clubs this season he has made nine appearances without scoring, with two assists to his name. Transfermarkt values the Algerian defender at €2.5m.
