About the player
His first competitive appearance in German football produced a goal, though not one that went down beside his name. On 14 August 2022, on his 2. Bundesliga debut for Hannover 96 against SSV Jahn Regensburg, Fóti struck a shot that went in off a defender. The own goal settled a 1–0 home win.
The route there ran across three countries. He learned the game at Tscherno More Varna, the club of his home city, before moving to Cyprus in 2017 for the youth setup at Omonia Nicosia, with a short loan to PO Ormidias in 2019. In January 2020 he joined the academy at Eintracht Frankfurt, signed his first professional contract there two years later and extended it that June. Frankfurt then sent him to Hannover on a two-year loan, where he made 17 senior appearances and scored once, and also turned out for the reserve side in the Regionalliga Nord.
Borussia Dortmund paid a reported €150,000 for him in July 2024 and put him in their second team, where he became a fixture: 53 appearances and five goals across the 3. Liga and Regionalliga. In January 2026 he moved to SC Verl on a contract running to 30 June 2028, taking the number 26 shirt. An injury kept him out from mid-March to early April that year.
Cyprus have called on him at every level. He scored on his single U16 appearance in 2018, won three U17 caps, seven at U19 and twelve at U21, adding another goal along the way. The senior debut came on 6 June 2025, a friendly against Bulgaria that finished 2–2. He has three senior caps.
