About the player
Andrés Felipe Roa Estrada came through Deportivo Cali's academy, and it was on loan at Uniautónoma that he picked up his first winners' medal, helping the side to the Primera B title in 2013. A second loan spell followed at Unión Magdalena before he returned to Cali, where he was part of the squad that won the Categoría Primera A in the 2015-II tournament.
That title proved to be the platform for a move abroad. Roa signed for Independiente in Argentina in 2017, and over the following years worked his way through two more Buenos Aires clubs, Argentinos Juniors and Huracán, without a return to Colombia. The Argentine spell also coincided with his only senior recognition on the international stage: a place in Colombia's squad at the 2016 Copa América and at the Rio Olympics that same year.
His career then took him further afield still, with a stint in Saudi Arabia at Al Batin followed by a move to Greece's Panetolikos. He came back to Colombian football in August 2023, joining América de Cali, where he stayed for two seasons before the club opted not to renew his contract for 2026.
Roa has now joined Once Caldas, wearing the number 20 shirt as an attacking midfielder. The left-footed playmaker's career has taken in three continents, and Colombian football gets him back at a stage when he already has a domestic title and continental caps behind him.
