Some goalkeepers make their name with a save. Felipe Parra made his by waiting. He spent five seasons at Envigado FC without ever forcing his way past squad status into a settled role, then left as the club's most experienced option between the posts: 121 appearances, 131 goals conceded, 34 clean sheets. That workload, quiet as it was, became the case for taking him elsewhere.

Once Caldas made the move in the summer of 2025, initially on loan with an option to buy, and Envigado kept a 30 per cent sell-on stake in the deal — a detail that says as much about how the two clubs valued him as anything on the pitch. The loan spell answered the only question that mattered: could he do it at a bigger club? Seven league appearances, two goals conceded, three clean sheets. Once Caldas did not hesitate. The loan turned into a permanent transfer, and Parra has continued in the same vein since, conceding three times and keeping four clean sheets across his opening matches as a full member of the squad.

The national team took note before the transfer did. In September 2022, Parra was called into a Colombia training microcycle, a nod to a goalkeeper who had built his reputation on consistency rather than a single headline moment. No senior cap has followed.

He arrives at a club with history he has not yet touched — Once Caldas won the Copa Libertadores in 2004 and domestic titles either side of it — but none of that silverware is his. What he has instead is a record built match by match, first at Envigado and now in Manizales, of a goalkeeper who conceded little and was trusted with more.
