About the player
Jorge Luis Cardona spent more than a decade working through amateur football and academy sides before Once Caldas gave him a route into professional football. He came through Envigado's youth ranks before moving into Once Caldas's own youth system, and it was there, rather than at any other club, that his career took shape.
His first-team debut came in 2019, and in February 2020 he was promoted from the youth squad into the senior group. The defining moment of his career so far came on 15 March 2022, when Once Caldas bought out his sporting rights outright and signed him to a contract running to the end of 2026, tying his future to the club that developed him.
Cardona plays across the back line, equally at home as a central defender or on the right side of defence, and wears the number 2 shirt. He has yet to add any individual awards or team honours to his record.
