Abdulrahman Taiwo

Abdulrahman Taiwo's Slovak spell began as a substitute story. Sent out on loan by SønderjyskE, he landed at Spartak Trnava in September 2022 and finished the season with 14 goals in 21 appearances, and helped the club lift the Slovak Cup.

The Nigerian forward's path there was not straightforward. After starting out at Abees Academy in Abuja and breaking through at Kwara United, a move to Turkish side Bursaspor in 2017 brought no first-team football, and a subsequent switch to Zbrojovka Brno in the Czech Republic produced the same result. Taiwo's career only found traction once he joined DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda in 2019, becoming a regular starter there before loan spells at Karviná and Zemplín Michalovce, where he scored six goals in eight matches.

Riga FC signed Taiwo on a three-year contract in July 2023, and the goals followed: a Latvian Cup in his first season and a Latvian Super Cup the year after. A loan to FK Auda in 2024 turned into one of his most productive spells anywhere, 17 goals in 22 Virsliga matches, with 21 goals in total.

On transfer deadline day in September 2025, Taiwo returned to Trnava on loan with an option to buy. By the end of the year he had added six goals in 15 appearances there.

Back at Riga for the 2026 season, Taiwo has scored in the Virsliga, the Latvian Cup and Conference League qualifying.
