About the player
Alex Mitchell spent four years on Millwall's books without making a first-team appearance for the club. At St Johnstone he was named the club's Young Player of the Year, and at Lincoln City he took the Player of the Month award in October 2023.
Mitchell was part of the Charlton squad that won the League One play-offs in 2025, and that summer he joined Plymouth Argyle on loan. Mitchell was named Plymouth's Player of the Year for the 2025/26 season and picked up the club's Player of the Month award in both December 2025 and March 2026.
On 23 July 2026, Mitchell signed for the club on a three-year deal running to 30 June 2029. The fee was not officially disclosed, though the Chicago Addick reported a figure of around £250,000.
Mitchell's route into football began at New Windsor Kestrels as a seven-year-old, before he progressed through the Millwall academy, where he was named the club's Academy Schoolboy of the Year in 2018.
