About the player
Anton Fagerström grew up playing in Visby, on Gotland, before joining IFK Norrköping's youth setup. A senior squad number came in 2009, though a first-team league appearance never followed. His break came with FC Gute in the Swedish third tier, where he made his debut in 2011 and was named the island's player of the year, the GA Ball, at season's end.
The real foundation of his career, though, was laid at Nyköpings BIS. Across five seasons from 2012 to 2016, Fagerström played 103 matches for the club and helped it win promotion to the first division, establishing himself as a regular between the posts. A move to Örebro SK followed in the summer of 2016, but it did not work out as hoped: he made no league appearances there.
His path changed in January 2018, when he signed for Västerås. What followed was a long and settled spell in goal, with his tally of appearances for the club climbing past the 200 mark in league competition alone. The high point came in 2023, when Västerås won the Superettan title and earned promotion to Allsvenskan, Sweden's top flight, with Fagerström a key figure between the posts. That same season brought individual recognition: he was named Superettan's Goalkeeper of the Year. Over his time at the club he has also kept a substantial number of clean sheets, underlining the consistency that has defined his time in Västerås colours.
